The is entry will be on a book I read to my daughter last night "Oh, the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss. First off the tears that began to swell up were from cutting onions earlier in the night I sear. The book describes the highs and lows that life can bring you. Dr.Seuss tells you to preserve and keep trotting through the valleys and mountains that is life. It really tugged on the heartstrings. The book is illustrated perfectly as the highs are very bright and the lows are almost grey and dark. the book is science fiction as it takes place in a different world. This story can be used by a class to describe the places the students wish to go in their lives and illustrate them just like the book.

This sounds like a great book! Dr. Seuss was a great author and did a very great job at conveying messages to children in a creative way. I believe all children would benefit from reading his books.
ReplyDeleteSome activities that could be used with this book is to have children describe a time when something did not go as planned and use examples from the book to explain how, if they knew what they now know from reading the book, how they may have reacted differently.
Another example activity for children to do with this book is to have children illustrate a make believe place that they would consider their "get away" place when life takes them through a low. They could be asked to pick a quote from the book and have that be used in the picture in order for them to refer back to it when they are in need of some up lifting.
